The new WebInterface of SAP CRM 2007

By the following I want to give a brief overview of the new functionality of SAP CRM 2007. With the use of new web-technologies the system is more easy to use and flexible. The new ui is based on SAP Interaction Center Web Client. There is no more PCUI and CRM SAPGUI. The ui is represented by an l-shape. This structure brings the user an easy to use navigation through the entire crm application. The l-shape contains systems links, stored searches, history, navigationbar, quick create links, personalization, help center and system news. The l-shape is split in two areas. Navigation- and header area. With the new ui concept all the areas and the content are freely configurable per role and can be personlized by the user. The content is visualized in entry pages, content pages and supporting pages.

Entry pages:
home page
work center page
report page
calendar

Content pages
Search pages
overview pages
edit pages
edit list pages

supporting pages
search help popup
value help popup
personlization popup

The navigation area supports direct access to all entry pages.
  • Navigationbar
  • Work center page (entry page)
  • Work center
  • Quick Create Area
  • Home Page (entry page)
Navigationbar:

From here you get access to all entry pages in the system. Each navigation link represent a workcenter page (entry page).

First level navigation Entrees
for standard navigation targets (e.g marketing, account management, activities)

Second level navigation entries
for functions and searches of the standard navigation target.
Example:
First level navigation = activities
Second level navigation = search activities, activity scheduling, visit plansk, direct creation options and links related to reports

The navigationbar can be hide to enlarge the work area.

Work Center Page (entry page):

From a first level navigation entry (Account management, Activity, Opportunities), you get access to one work center page.

A work center page consists of serveral work centers which give the user important content (searches , direct links for the creation of new objects, ...). The name of the work center is indicated by the name of the first-level navigation. The content and the grouping of the work center is configurable per user-role.

Quick create area:

With this feature you can serve functions to the user.
Functions could be:

Link to a intranet/internet page
Transaction to an other R/3 system

All the accesable links are personalizable by the user. For a company you could provide them a collection of important / interesting links (menu of the cafeteria, Google Page, intranet self service pages)

Home Page:

The personalizable entry page supports a quick and direct overview of the daily work like in the standard

my appointments today
my tasks today
reports
alerts
workflow tasks

the user with links to predefined searches, open activities, reports or functions (create account, ...). The blocks can be draged around.

Quick Create Area:

From here you have access to the most frequently used applications, which can be started from every crm page as it is located in the navigation bar.

SAP CRM 2007 - Short (very short) overview

CRM 2007 is the new SAP CRM System. As a crm consultant you are always confronted with customizing of the WebClient UI of SAP CRM 2007. As all interaction pages are from now build up in an clean web-frontend. With this the systems brings some nice functionalities for the end-user.

What is new?

- personlizable web-frontend
- save searches
- use of AJAX makes the system more faster then PC-UI
- Configuration of CRM webpages via browser tool
- No more use of PC-UI
- etc...

There are two ways to customize the gui. The one way is to use for customizing tool which the CRM 2007 provides for the browser. You can call up the pages directly from the web-browser to modify it. See figure below. The blue area marks a crm component, which you can maintain later on via the browser.

After you have selected an component (element of the gui) you can access the fields of the selected component. You can arrange fields in the order you want. You can rename fields and you can bring new fields to screen. Yust remember how hard this is to do in PC-UI.

The following figures is in the component workbench embedded. The component workbench supports the modification of screens. Additionaly to that you use the component workbench to build up complete new pages an needs of your customers.
